Darunnajah University is a private higher education institution under the Darunnajah Foundation in South Jakarta , Indonesia.[1] The current Rector of Darunnajah University is Much Hasan Darojat.[2]

History[edit]

This university began on August 3, 1986, with the name Ma'had 'Aly, with a specialization (major) in sharia. This program was initially built for alumni of the Darunnajah Islamic Boarding School so they could continue and deepen their knowledge in the field of sharia studies.

To be in line with the provisions of the national education system, the name was then changed to the Darunnajah College of Sharia Sciences (STIS), which was previously called the Darunnajah Islamic Institute (IAID).

With the development of interest in prospective new students who at that time did not only come from Darunnajah Islamic Boarding School alumni, STIS Darunnajah opened a new department, namely Arabic Language Education and Islamic Education, which automatically changed the name of STIS Darunnajah Islamic High School (STAI) Darunnajah.

STAI Darunnajah is prepared to develop the quality of human resources (HR) at the tertiary level who are able to respond to global challenges in the era of information technology, as well as the development of modern science and technology that still adheres to the basic principles of religion.

Alumni are spread throughout Indonesia, some of the alumni continue their education domestically and some also continue their education abroad such as Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey, Pakistan, Morocco, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, Australia, America and England.

From 2000 to 2021, the Darunnajah Foundation has had 3 high schools, namely STAI (Islamic College) Darunnajah Jakarta, STAI (Islamic College) Darunnajah Bogor, and STIE (High School of Economics) Darunnajah Jakarta.

On June 22 2022, the Darunnajah Foundation officially received the Decree on the Establishment of a University issued by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia which was submitted through LLDIKTI (Higher Education Service Institute) III.
