The Chicago Portal

Chicago is the most populous city in the U.S. state of Illinois and in the Midwestern United States. With a population of 2,746,388, as of the 2020 census, it is the third-most populous city in the United States after New York City and Los Angeles. As the seat of Cook County, the second-most populous county in the U.S., Chicago is the center of the Chicago metropolitan area, often colloquially called "Chicagoland" and home to 9.6 million residents.

Chicago is an international hub for finance, culture, commerce, industry, education, technology, telecommunications, and transportation. It has the largest and most diverse derivatives market in the world, generating 20% of all volume in commodities and financial futures alone. O'Hare International Airport is routinely ranked among the world's top six busiest airports by passenger traffic, and the region is also the nation's railroad hub. The Chicago area has one of the highest gross domestic products (GDP) of any urban region in the world, generating $689 billion in 2018. Jay Pritzker Pavilion, Pritzker Pavilion, or Pritzker Music Pavilion is a band shell in the Loop community area of Chicago in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The Frank Gehry-designed pavilion, named for Pritzker family member Jay Pritzker, was constructed between June 1999 and July 2004 in Millennium Park. It is located on the south side of Randolph Street directly across from some of the tallest buildings in the world and east of the Chicago Landmark Historic Michigan Boulevard District. It is the park's outdoor performing arts venue and the new home of the Grant Park Symphony Orchestra and Chorus. As home of the Grant Park Symphony Orchestra and Chorus it is also the home of the Grant Park Music Festival, the nation's only remaining free outdoor classical music series. The structure is built partially atop the Harris Theater for Music and Dance, the park's indoor performing arts venue. It serves as the centerpiece for the park that was opened on July 16, 2004. The first mainstream concert at the Pavilion was performed by Tori Amos and took place on August 31, 2005. The performance venue is designed with a large fixed seating area, a great lawn, a trellis network to support the sound system and a signature Gehry stainless steel headdress. It features a sound system with an innovative acoustic design that replicates an indoor concert hall sound experience. The pavilion and the park in general are well-known and respected for their accessibility.

The discography of Kanye West, an American rapper and singer, includes nine studio albums (including several collaborative albums), two live albums, three video albums, four mixtapes, over 100 singles (including nine collaborative singles and fifty-five as a featured artist), ten promotional singles and eighty-four music videos. In 2003, West collaborated with rapper Twista and singer Jamie Foxx on the song "Slow Jamz", which became West's first single to top the US Billboard Hot 100. West's debut album, The College Dropout, was released in February 2004. The album peaked at number two on the US Billboard 200 chart and was certified double-platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). West released his second studio album Late Registration in August 2005. It peaked at number one on the Billboard 200, with first week sales of 860,000 copies. Late Registration produced five singles, including "Gold Digger", which topped the Billboard Hot 100. The album has sold three million copies and has gained triple-platinum certification from the RIAA. Graduation, West's third album, peaked at number one on the Billboard 200 and shipped over 957,000 units in its first week, breaking the record set by his previous album. Graduation held the number-one spot on the Billboard 200 for over a month, also reaching number one on the UK Albums Chart. It spawned five singles, including the Billboard Hot 100 number-one single "Stronger". West's fourth album 808s & Heartbreak was released in November 2008 and became his third consecutive number-one release on the Billboard 200. West released My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, his fifth studio album, in November 2010. The album hit number one on the Billboard 200, continuing a streak of number-one albums for West. In 2011, West collaborated with American recording artist Katy Perry on a remix of her song "E.T." which hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100, marking West's fourth number-one single on the chart. Peter Charles Bernard Bynoe is a Chicago attorney and businessman, the only African-American equity partner in the Chicago office of DLA Piper. In 1989, he and his business partner Bertram Lee were the first African-Americans to buy any part of a National Basketball Association (NBA) team, when they purchased a 37.5% share of the Denver Nuggets basketball team, and he is among the most influential minority figures in sports law and management. Bynoe kept the Chicago White Sox from leaving Chicago by developing a New Comiskey Park (now known as U.S. Cellular Field). He has become a negotiator for professional sports teams' venues. In addition, he is involved in the development of the 2012 Summer Olympics and hopes to be involved in the 2016 Summer Olympics planning. Bynoe serves on several boards of directors

The Michigan Avenue Bridge (officially DuSable Bridge) is a bascule bridge that carries Michigan Avenue across the main stem of the Chicago River in downtown Chicago, Illinois, United States. The bridge was planned in the early 20th century as part of a scheme to link Chicago's south side and north side parks with a grand boulevard. Construction of the bridge started in 1918, it opened to traffic in 1920, and work on the decoration of the bridge was completed in 1928. The bridge provides passage for vehicles and pedestrians on two levels; it is an example of a fixed trunnion bascule bridge, which later became widely known as a "Chicago style bascule". The bridge is included in the Michigan–Wacker Historic District and has been designated as a Chicago Landmark. The location of the bridge is significant in the early history of Chicago and events in the city's history are commemorated with sculptures and plaques on the bridge. The bridge also houses the McCormick Bridgehouse & Chicago River Museum in one of the bridge tender houses.
