Patrick Sergeant

Sir Patrick John Rushton Sergeant (born 17 March 1924) is a British journalist, investor and businessman who is the founder of Euromoney Institutional Investor. Previously, he served as the City Editor of the Daily Mail from 1960 to 1984.[1]

Early life and education[edit]

Patrick Sergeant was born on 17 March 1924 in King's Down, Kent.[2] He attended Beaumont College.[2]

His daughter, Emma Sergeant, is an artist.[3]

Career[edit]

Sergeant served in Royal Navy before joining Mullens & Co.[2]

In 1948, he joined News Chronicle as a reporter.[2] From 1960 to 1984, he was the City Editor of the Daily Mail.[2] Later, he was served as a director of Daily Mail and General Trust Plc from 1992 to 2004.[4]

In 2018, he announced his retirement from the board of Euromoney.[5]
