Welcome, Ichbinbored! I noticed that you joined the discussion on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Janicism. Participation in the community is encouraged, of course, but your status as a brand new user means that your opinions might not be counted. Please understand that this is a common practice on Wikipedia, and it is necessary to prevent deliberate misuse of our discussion pages. Our discussion processes value consensus over raw numbers and reasoned debate over simple voting. However, please do make further contributions to Wikipedia and express your opinion on policy matters.

Riddlesdown and Vandalism[edit]

Hello Ichbinbored, you appear to have labelled my edits as vandalism. Please read about what vandalism is and is not. A good faith attempt to cleanup a school article in need of cleanup is not vandalism. I actually removed very little of the history and timeline sections, instead converting most of it, including several one-line sections, to prose. The parts of these sections I removed were mostly highly POV and unverifiable original research. Examples:

  • "It is widely accepted that the quality of education provided by the Sixth Form is inferior.."
  • "Much to the disappointment of the school, the most academically able and gifted students tend to leave Riddlesdown..."
  • "controversy amongst parents who are shocked by the fact that the majority of involvement that their children can have with the Science..."
  • "students who do not excel in the Sciences are in danger of having the subjects in which they excel overlooked..."
  • "One theory ... Riddlesdown is trying to improve the rather poor A-Level results by merely admitting only intelligent students..."

Under the verifiability policy I hereby request reliable references for this material.

In your reversion you also restored some spelling and formatting mistakes, but more importantly you also restored some very derogatory remarks about the headmaster and some other completely unencyclopaedic and again unverifiable trivia ("Doctor Dibbs apears to have been assaulted" ?). I intend removing this again as an extreme violation of the NPOV, verifiability, and No original research policies. Perhaps you have no objections to it being removed? Otherwise, perhaps you could provide some independent reliable references. Thanks. -- zzuuzz (talk) 19:17, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Image:ShieldRDHS.jpg[edit]

A tag has been placed on Image:ShieldRDHS.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only," "non-derivative use" or "used with permission," it has not been shown to comply with the limited standards for the use of non-free content. [1], and it was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19, or is not used in any articles. If you agree with the deletion, there is no need to do anything. If, however, you believe that this image may be retained on Wikipedia under one of the permitted conditions then:

  • state clearly the source of the image. If it has been copied from elsewhere on the web you should provide links to: the image itself, the page which uses it and the page which contains the license conditions.
  • add the relevant copyright tag.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:ShieldRDHS.jpg|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you.  Channel ®   22:58, 21 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
