Ruh roh

Hey, thanks for your help there. What does "Ruh roh" mean? --Guinnog 12:32, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

Damn, I would have been able to double check his birth, but I just took the book which mentioned it back to the library. Oldelpaso 20:07, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

I think it said something like "He died on 5th October 1955, n weeks before his 63rd birthday". If the book is still there next time I visit the library, I'll take a peek. Oldelpaso 22:25, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

The source I got for Blackpool Wednesday is from: Harris, Jeff & Hogg, Tony (ed.), Arsenal Who's Who, page 97, which says:

Fred Pagnam [...] played junior football for Lytham and Blackpool Wednesday before joining Huddersfield Town in 1910.

That is also backed up by this page here [1]. As he only played junior football Wednesday could have been just a youth team rather than a senior-level club, a theory supported by the fact they are not included on the very comprehensive fchd. However, Lytham are. Confusing, eh? Anyway, hope that helped. Qwghlm 19:55, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

Hello. The source for the Billy Ayre stats is Barry Hugman: Premier and Football League Records 1946-2005. --Badmotorfinger 10:52, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

FA Cup finals

Hey - you've been busy. I'll have to find time to expand the articles on the 1900 and 1902 finals featuring my favourite team. Daemonic Kangaroo 19:44, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

FA Cup Finals sources

You have created an awful lot of articles, but what I want to know is why you haven't cited your sources! Are you taking this info from a book? A website? A magazine? When you have finished creating them, do you think you could go through them and cite your sources? If they are all from the same place, it will be a simple matter of copying and pasting a section a header and a bulletpointed source. Thanks. J Milburn 12:34, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

Why add them at the top? That just looks awful. I am not the only editor in the world to add them at the bottom, and I have been adding them like that for ages, and no one has ever complained before. That includes a large number of admins who trawled through my contributions not long ago. J Milburn 12:43, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

Well, according to the article, he is dead, so that would be obvious. But no, no relation as far as I am aware! J Milburn 12:59, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Borito.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Borito.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Date preferences

Hi. I think you misunderstood the edit summary of this edit, which you subsequently reverted, saying "not worth losing user-friendliness over functionality in AWB". The point of the change was user friendliness, as having the correct date format allows the dates to be formatted according to the user's preferences. It's nothing to do with AWB. I've restored the changes made in that edit. Hope the above makes sense. Regards, CiaranG 17:18, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

hi, you reverted me without explanation, then said in the second edit comment it meets the requirements. but it doesnt - the list is in reverse chronological order. rgs. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.3.84.80 (talk) 19:05, 5 February 2007 (UTC).

How about getting a Wikipedia account? It's very free. - Dudesleeper · Talk 19:16, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
Dudesleeper, please stop reverting the tag addition. It is correct to insert the tag, since the section does not conform to the manual of style. It's up to the user in question whether he gets an account or not, and his choice not to does not justify repeatedly reverting his/her perfectly valid edits. Thanks, CiaranG 10:48, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
Got my first stalker, eh? Nice! - Dudesleeper · Talk 10:31, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

On the Blackpool page, the current team includes Srimants Prukulis at No. 6. He's also shown on the Blackpool F.C. Squad Template. Is this for real, as he is not listed on the club's official website, nor does he come up on Google? Likewise, the club he's supposed to be on loan from, Maskachka United, appears to be a hoax. Daemonic Kangaroo 13:18, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

It's likely a hoax, but the Blackpool website is slow at updating their squad list. I was going to give it until today for a transfer confirmation before removing him. - Dudesleeper · Talk 16:19, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

American Pie edit

I re-reverted the edit back, as it goes to the guy in question, rather than a disambiguation page. Dont see why you reverted it in the first place. Whammies Were Here (PYLrulz) 12:57, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

I don't know why I reverted it either, now that I've looked at it again. Sorry about that. - Dudesleeper · Talk 13:16, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
Thats cool. Seemed kinda odd, and threw me off, especially since it got reverted to the disambig page. But as I said, its all cool :) Whammies Were Here (PYLrulz) 11:30, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

Wondering

Hi. I just happen to hate Verschlimmbesserer, as we Germans say. That has already cost me a block by one of these administrators whose aim seems to be to ruin the credibility of English Wikipedia (you'll notice that i've never even been warned on de:wiki). But hell, God will recognize his own, as they say - don't they ? RCS 14:02, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

"Odd" article renaming

Please see the article naming conventions in the WP Manual of Style. There is nothing at all odd about moving Snooker leagues to Snooker league. Cf. also Cat, Non-governmental organization, Ideogram, etc., etc., times 1million+  :-) — SMcCandlish [talk] [contrib] 03:45, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

It was an odd renaming, regardless of biblical Wikipedia's manual of style. As I've said before, if Wikipedia's guidelines says a tree isn't a tree, then it clearly cannot be a tree. If your aim is to improve billiard articles, please try and tidy up after yourself. - Dudesleeper · Talk 11:17, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia. However, we remind you not to attack other editors. Please comment on the contributions and not the contributors. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you.
Boilerplate aside, you'll have to explain your remarkably uncivil comment a little better. And I would advise you to lay off such language, which I note here that you seem to use habitually, judging from some of the other things you've left on your talk page. To get back to the topic at hand:
If you don't like the fact that Wikipedia has article naming guidelines, there are other online encyclopedias you can contribute to. The naming conventions here are very simple; the relevant one here is that articles use the singular form as the article name. Period. There is no debate about this - it's just that way, and that's how it's done - and it certainly has nothing to do with calling trees rocks. You'll notice that the article was not moved to Electric fence licking or Weasel snorkel. Perhaps you need a tea break?
PS: I'm not sure what you mean by "as I've said before", since I don't ever recall having previously had any such conversation with you.
SMcCandlish [talk] [contrib] 11:59, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
I wrote As I've said before..., not As I've said to you before... · Talk 13:30, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
Understood, retroactively; I thought I was supposed to refer back to some talk page or edit summary of immediate relevance to our conversation; if there's one of important third-party but not immediate relevance please feel free to point it out. Maybe your points will be clearer to me with that background information. — SMcCandlish [talk] [contrib] 14:12, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
PS: I apparently don't like Wikipedia's article-naming "guidelines", thanks in no small part to yourself, but I won't be going anywhere else. Thanks for the offer though! - Dudesleeper · Talk 13:30, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

Mmmm, it's good. God bless Tetley. - Dudesleeper · Talk 14:03, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
Honestly hope it helps. I think you'd be a valuable asset here if you'd calm down and work with rather than against people. We're all here for the same core reason. Let's try this again tomorrow. PS: Please don't try to randomly fight the guidelines, just for your own sanity's sake. They effectively have the force of official policy at this point, so bucking them will seriously not get you anywhere. I learned all this the hard way myself, and strongly suggest not walking that road. It is a road that is on fire, stocked with well-armed snipers on both sides, and consists largely of gasoline-infused quicksand, which is infested with vipers and venemous spiders, and also sucks the life out of you via unholy Black Magic. Just go with the flow, and learn over time to gently bend it. PPS: Tetley? Not bad. PG Tips fan, myself. PPPS: Had an edit-conflict there; I think I merged the comments correctly. — SMcCandlish [talk] [contrib] 14:12, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
