RfA: Alexf

I have been nominated for an RfA. If you haven't done so already, I would appreciate if you could go and comment on this page: Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Alexf. Thanks and happy wiking! -- Alexf(Talk/Contribs) 12:25, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

Same football team ?

Dudesweeper, I came across two article you have contributed to. Are St. Andrews United F.C. and St Andrews United F.C. the same team ? This might be a case of unintentional duplication. Djln--Djln (talk) 19:24, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

Good spot. I've redirected one article to the other after merging some information. - Dudesleeper Talk 19:42, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

Dates and commas

Thanks for the note. After a bit of research, I can now see that you were correct. Even at my age, it's not too late to learn something new. Mea culpa. --Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 08:02, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

RE:Anne Dudley

In response to your query, yes I'm 100% sure-the album insert confirms that Anne Dudley provided string arangements on this particular track. This was also mentioned as the song was being introduced at the Albert Hall concert. --SundanceCassidy (talk) 20:45, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Rhys Evans

The Blackpool FC official site confirms that Evans has signed for Millwall on a free tranfer until the end of the season. The Millwall FC official site also confirms he has signed a permanent contract until the end of the season. Regardless of what is in that BBC article about it being a loan move. ♦Tangerines♦·Talk 23:18, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

Right, but the reference added didn't state that, which is where the problem lay. - Dudesleeper Talk 23:20, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
Which is still not the point as I didn't add that reference, nor even notice it was there until just now. Check back and you will see that I had added two references showing he had signed permanently for Millwall (from the Blackpool and Millwall site articles). Peanut then later removed both of those references and instead nserted the inaccurate BBC report instead, even though both references were valid. That then created the "dud references" which you mention in your edit summaries because the references had been removed.♦Tangerines♦·Talk 23:31, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
Didn't say you added the reference, just that it was the root of the confusion. Peanut removed some references because the HTML was messed up. - Dudesleeper Talk 23:38, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
And I am talking about the two perfectly valid sources (the Millwall and Blackpool official site news articles about Evans transfer) which worked perfectly fine. I just checked back and the links worked fine. Their removal had nothing at all to do with being removed because the HTML was messed up. They were simply removed as they were replaced with what was an incorrect source. I fully realise that I messed up with other things on that article but we all make mistakes and we try and learn from them and I was trying to improve the article.♦Tangerines♦·Talk 23:57, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
The three links removed (two here and one here) were to BFC's site. I think the error was due to a "cite" not being attached to any of the three. Obviously, it would have been fixed if we knew what the reference was pointing to. - Dudesleeper Talk 00:24, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

Gennaro Gattuso

We can't have that "persondata" jumble visible on the page. Why was it reverted? Beemer69 00:31, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

Dates

Just a quick question regarding your edit summary to Rhys Evans. You say it's common style to add a comma between dates. In the Evans article with all dates correctly linked, i.e. today 23 January, 2008 would appear without a date anyway. Or at least it always has with me. Or am I missing something? Thx. Peanut4 (talk) 00:37, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

They obviously appear as standard when the month is put first even if not put in the edit, e.g. January 23 2008, but if the other way round they vanish, as above. I'll await your answer before I make my final judgment. I've taken quite a lot out, cos whatever clever script puts them in where necessary anyway. Or at least I thought. Streethawk

Why did you edit out all the relevant fan sites and links? Ive re-edited it back now however. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ducatidesmo (talkcontribs) 17:53, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

See the reason I gave the first time. - Dudesleeper Talk 19:11, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
The reason you gave was that the links given were to spam sites(There were none!) and "rm fansites", I run the streethawk.tv-series.com link, Now I dont mean to be rude but IMDB is the only one with spam these days..... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ducatidesmo (talkcontribs) 21:37, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

Ribchester

Hi Dudesleeper,

Its a shame I didn't know you were visiting; it would have been nice to meet. You were lucky that you missed the flooding; I might add some pictures of the river in full spate to the page shortly. Thank you for you offer of a DVD of the Time Team programme. I have it on VHS but of course that will become obsolete soon. I'll PM you my address.

Hi DS- Just wanted to let you know that I reverted that confusing anonymous edit from Germany, and put a link in my summary to a post I made on the article's talk page. I'm trying to get the German editor(s) to collaborate with us on en before they make edits in funky English. Say hi to Portland from Boston. -Eric talk 16:24, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Elizabeth Shingleton

I have nominated Elizabeth Shingleton, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Elizabeth Shingleton. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Saving Private Ryan grammer edit

Hi. Per your recent edit, I think Survive is the proper tense as it's connected with 'men who survive' vs directly to Captian Miller. Capt. Miller survives the landing but the men survive the landing. The usage is Capt Miller is one of the men who survive the landing so the sentence should be 'One of the men who survive the landing, Capt Miller....'--Lepeu1999 (talk) 20:02, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

Right, but it isn't singular. The verb is paired with 'the men' and not Captian Miller. Who survives? The men survive - and Capt Miller is one of them.--Lepeu1999 (talk) 13:54, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
