United Nations General Assembly Resolution 273 was passed on May 11, 1949 to admit the State of Israel to membership in the United Nations. It has been argued that this resolution makes Israel's admission to the UN conditional upon implementation of resolutions 181 of November 29, 1947 and 194 of December 11, 1948 (see paragraph 5 of the resolution, below).[1] Other commentators reject this position.[2]
