It's the school with the highest results in Thanet, so I thought There should be an article on it.

That's how you do it... anyway, your first step might be to find a reference (newspaper, for example) that mentions that it has the 'highest results' to put in the article. I'm not sure what you mean by highest results. To create an article on Wikipedia you have to explain why the Hartsdown Technology College is special, or notable- why it is more important than most schools in the world, for example (there are a LOT of schools out there). As it stands, the article doesn't say why the school is important, and does not provide any information that someone couldn't get by just using an internet search engine to find the school homepage. Since you have added the "hangon" tag, you probably have some time if you would like to improve the article before someone deletes it. Epthorn (talk) 19:16, 20 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also, keep in mind that notability is especially important when you're talking about one object of many (like schools, as opposed to universities). The best way to establish notability is to provide outside sources (newspapers, books, etc) that tell us all that, yes, someone out there has noticed Hartsdown Tech. College and thinks it is important. Epthorn (talk) 19:17, 20 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • There is general acceptance that secondary schools are notable and warrant articles, there is general acceptance that primary schools do not. There are detailed lists of secondary schools in all of the English counties and various other groupings.Paste (talk) 19:34, 20 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
"General Acceptance"- I don't think so... there is no policy or guideline of the sort you mention regarding schools, and I see continued arguments over this point. If there's a general acceptance I've not seen any- and having other articles of the sort is no reason at all (see WP:ALLORNOTHING for further info on that argument). This school fails to assert nobility except that it exists. I have a feeling it will be taken to Afd. That said, I did not place the speedy on the page, but I have replaced it since appears as though the original author deleted it yet again. Epthorn (talk) 11:39, 21 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that whether or not there is general acceptance is debatable, and I would not assume it has current consensus. What I do know is that ALL secondary school articles are seriously defended in good faith at AFD, and that therefore they do not fall under the criteria for speedy as non-notable, which is only for uncontroversial deletion.

As the reviewing admin I have therefore of course removed the speedy. I offer no opinion about the likely fate at AfD, as it seems to vary from week to week. One property WP unquestionably does not have is consistency. DGG (talk) 11:45, 21 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
