The simple interrupted stitch is a suturing technique most commonly used because it allows good approximation of wound edge. It's easy to place and simple. The knot crosses the wound perpendicularly. It is known as an interrupted stitch because the individual stitches aren't connected.

The knots should not be left over the wound, they must be either on the right or the left side, in order to allow a correct cicatrization and make the removal of the stitches easier.
