Hangon tagging[edit]

This is not a copyrighted image, shisa by the thousands adorn everything in Okinawa prefecture, much like tikis in Hawaii and pyramids in Cairo. That the image was deleted from Commons is irrelevant here, the rules are just different-properly tagged, it is acceptable at the en:Wikipedia. I am working on proper licensing now. I asked the original uploader to upload it just to en:Wikipedia. Please wait, this was only found to be unacceptable at Commons, not here.--Kintetsubuffalo (talk) 13:43, 22 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

From what I've gathered from the article, a Shisa face is more of a cultural icon than a copyrighted logo/trademark/whatever. Calling this image as copyright violation would be equivalent to calling any manually drawn picture of Santa Claus the same. So I request all admins to read the article and find out what the picture represent before deleting it. Thanks — Finemann (talk) 20:48, 22 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
