This is a mistranslation, these boats are sloop rigged. This is not a schooner race. I don't know how to fix this without messing up links to the picture, but perhaps someone else does.

Yes, indeed. This photograph was taken at the 2009 505 World Championships in San Francisco, CA. It depicts 505 sloop-rigged dinghies being launched from the beach at Chrissy Field, just west of St. Francis Yacht Club, the event host. The Golden Gate Bridge is visible to the left of the boats.
