In all of those areas of the map in modern Spain, the population speaks Spanish as a first language (perhaps one among other first languages, as is the case in Catalonia, but certainly as a first and native language). As such, it should be indicated whether they use seseo or ceceo or distinción when speaking Spanish. My understanding is that basically everywhere that is indicated using green, with the exception of Portugal (and possibly the areas in Extremadura and Andalusia) uses distinción when speaking Spanish. 91.64.168.202 (talk) 21:39, 20 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This map is very misleading. There is not that much seseo in Spain as the green areas suggest. The map includes in green areas where languages other than Spanish exist which have no /θ/, such as Basque (North) and Catalan (East coast) speaking areas. However, in those areas, Spanish is spoken with the /θ/ phoneme. A map of Spanish seseo would only include the small green parts in the South, and the Canary Islands. --77.230.197.104 (talk) 15:12, 30 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
