Layman's opinion[edit]

To whomever it may concern: Herakles looks as if he is using his sword against someone using a Macedonian Star'ed shield. Hoplites held their shield with their left fore-arm, sword in their right hand. Herakles seems to be holding the hair(?) of the opponent, making the kill -behind- the shield; the artist seemingly desiring to show the gruesome incident by implication Vs. literally. -Again, layman's view; noting even remotly insulting directly nor implied was intended in this interpretation. The dedication, time, and decades of training to become a true Master to be finally allowed to interpret are awe inspiring for we lesser people.
