Pageviews[edit]

Unlike any other flag, this image page receives 25k views / day. Why? Perhaps we can redirect whoever is hammering it. DenverCoder9 (talk) 20:44, 28 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@DenverCoder19 I just spotted this as well while delving into some pageview data. It's not just an outlier among flags, it got 2.3% of all traffic in the File: namespace for May 2023. It also shows a very striking pattern of being 99.9% mobile hits, virtually no desktop traffic.
The second most common file (File:E.tv_Extra_logo_(2019).png) got 355k hits and 93% mobile; the third most (File:HispanTv_logo.svg) was 138k hits and 94% mobile. Across the whole namespace traffic was ~64% desktop ~36% mobile, but for these very popular images it's the other way around. Very mysterious! Andrew Gray (talk) 21:56, 24 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thinking about it, this is particularly strange because the hits are to the file description page - presumably this wouldn't happen if the image file was being hotlinked. But somehow traffic is coming here.
The file description page on commons got only about 1500 hits over the same time period, the one on itwp got about 320, zhwp got about 180. Other projects only had a little scattering. Andrew Gray (talk) 22:22, 24 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
