Ink on paper, bound 23.4 by 15.4cm.

Persian manuscript on paper, 125 leaves, 19 to 23 lines to the page, written in at least three hands in black and brown naskh script, titles in darker muhaqqaq script, catchwords, lacking one folio at the beginning and end, some replacement folios, several seal impressions throughout, ownership inscriptions on the interior of the brown leather binding

Al-Jurjani's al-Aghradh al-tibbiyah wa al-mabahith al-‘ala’iyah is a comprehensive medical work in two main parts one of which is an abridgment of Zakhirah-yi Khwarazmshahi by the same author. Al-Jurjani attended the court of the Khwarazmshahis, and composed the work for the ruler ‘Ala’ al-Daulah Atzis (r.1156-57 AD).

Another copy of this work is in the Library of the Wellcome Institute for the History of Medicine, London (see F. Keshavarz, A Descriptive and Analytical Catalogue of Persian Manuscripts in the Library of the Wellcome Institute for the History of Medicine, London, 1986, pp.107-8, no.24).
