Summary
| Description |
English: The Isaac L. and Julia B. Rice House. now Yeshiva Ketana of Manhattan, and formerly the Solomon Schinasi House, at 349 West 89th Street and Riverside Drive in the Upper West Side of Manhattan, was built in 1901-03 and was designed by Herts & Tallant with additions in 1908 by C.P.H. Gilbert. It is one of only two free-standing mansions extant on Riverside Drive (the other was owned by Schinasi's bother, Morris.) Isaac Rice was a lawyer, writer and chess expert and his wife Julia was a physician - called the house "Villa Julia". Herts & Tallant specialized in designing theatres. The house is Georgian and Beaux Arts in style. Gilbert's alteration for Schinasi, the second owner, did not significantly alter the design. The house in a New York City landmark, designated in 1980.
