Deutsch: Nordwestansicht des Denkmals zu Ehren der Soldaten der Sowjetarmee (auch Heldendenkmal der Roten Armee bzw. umgangssprachlich Russendenkmal bezeichnet) am Schwarzenbergplatz im 3. Wiener Gemeindebezirk Landstraße.
Das Denkmal erinnert an 18.000 Soldaten der Roten Armee, die bei der Eroberung Wiens zu Tode gekommen sind und wurde am 19. August 1945 feierlich enthüllt. Es besteht aus einer acht Meter hohen Balustrade mit 26 Säulen, an deren Enden je eine Gruppe von zwei Kämpfenden angebracht wurde. Im Zentrum befindet sich auf einem 20 Meter hohen Sockel eine 12 Meter hohe Statue eines Rotgardisten. |
