This bridge was built in April 2004 by the 8th Engineer Support Battalion, U.S. Marine Corps. It was placed on Highway 1 (AKA MSR Tampa) in the Al Muthana province of Iraq under heavy mortar fire. The bridge was built to replace the previous concrete one that has previously existed, but was deliberately destroyed by anti-U.S. forces.
