Summary

Description
English: A Type A tram (nickname: "toast rack") of the Municipal Tramways Trust (MTT) in Currie Street, Adelaide. The driver and conductor are posed at the front of the tram. On the left is probably W.G.T. Goodman, chief engineer and general manager of the MTT, with the solid boots of a practising engineer. The unknown man second from left is wearing a spray of wattle in his lapel and the tram front is garlanded with wattle leaves, indicating the photo was taken on Wattle Day, 1 September 1917. The tram is facing east, 100 metres west of the intersection with King William Street, down which it will run. The sign "Glenelg R'l'y" referred to its destination: the railway service that between 1914 and 1929 ran from near South Terrace to Glenelg.
