English: The theatre at Aspendos is famous for its magnificent acoustics. Even the slightest sound made at the center of the orchestra can be easily heard as far as the upper most galleries. It is the best preserved and most complete example of a Roman theatre. The building, faithful to the Greek tradition, is partially built into the slope of a hill. It is said to have seated between 10,000 and 12,000 people but in resent years at concerts as many as 20,000 spectators have been crowded into the seating area.
The Aspendos theatres most striking component is the stage building. On the lower floor of this two-storey structure, which is built of conglomerate rock, were five doors providing the actors entrance to the stage.
