Summary

Description
English: Tudor Rose Cottage. The plaque > 1403142 on its facade gives the date of construction as 1738. New Buckenham is a village located on the Norfolk-Suffolk border. Interestingly, its street plan is still based on the old medieval grid pattern. 16th century houses, built from wattle and clay on timber frames, stand side by side with flint and brick cottages, often hidden behind Georgian and later brick facades > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1394567. The 18th century market cross, situated in the village centre, serves as a shelter > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/40538. The village has two pubs, the George > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1394575 and the Kings Head, a number of local shops and a general store which is combined with a bakery and a post office > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1394579. There is a large common designated a Conservation Area to the east of the village. The remains of a castle are on the edge of the village, and near it there is the first place of worship, the now restored St Mary's Chapel, which was replaced by St Martin's church > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1394594.
