Summary

Description
English: Tibbie Tamson's Grave This is the burial place of Tibbie Tamson, a Selkirk woman who committed suicide in 1790 after being accused of theft. A Christian burial in the town was not allowed, so she was brought to this remote spot and interred outside the town's land. A wooden plaque by the grave reads:

"AN EPITAPH TO TIBBIE TAMSON"

WHERE CURLEWS CRY AND WILD BIRDS FLY TIBBIE THRO' THE CENTURIES LIES THE STONE IS CRACKED YET BEARS THE NAME

A WITCH PERHAPS, BUT WHO'S TO BLAME
