English: A portrait of Thomas Hardy, OM (2 June 1840 – 11 January 1928), an English novelist and poet who was influenced by Romanticism, especially William Wordsworth and also by Charles Dickens, like whom he was highly critical of much in Victorian society, though Hardy focused more on the decline of rural society.
