English: View of the Thermopylae pass at the area of the Phocian Wall. In ancient times the coastline was where the modern road lies, or even closer to the mountain.
Polski: Termopile, widok na miejsce bitwy, ze wzgórza Kolonos, gdzie schronili i bronili się ostatni z obrońców. Z pewnością nie wąwóz. W starożytności, linia brzegu morskiego przebiegała jeszcze wyraźnie na lewo od widocznej tu trasy samochodowej. Według przedstawianych na miejscu plansz historycznych, miejsce to miało swe przewężenia i także kilka rozleglejszych przestrzeni, umiejętnie wykorzystywane przez obrońców dla taktycznych kontrataków i odwrotów. Po śmierci Leonidasa, pozostali obrońcy wycofali się na owo ufortyfikowane (niegdyś) wzgórze, to, na którego podejściu stał fografujący, by już wkrótce potem, trwale przejść zeń do historii powszechnej. W oddali budynki nieczynnego już zakładu wodolecznictwa. Dzikie kąpielisko, z łagodnymi głębinkami i małym, wszakże idealnie ciepłym wodospadem, chętnie odwiedzane przez kierowców.
