DescriptionThe last drop of West Blackdene rapid on the River Wear - geograph.org.uk - 1189930.jpg
English: The last drop of West Blackdene rapid on the River Wear. Paul Willett of the Swaledale Outdoor Club runs the last drop of the interesting West Blackdene rapid on the Upper Wear at a nice high winter level. This section of the river needs quite a bit of water to bring it into condition, but when it reaches this level, the trip is fast and enjoyable (on this day we paddled all the way from Wearhead to Wolsingham). After the bridge, the line is river left, then right, then over this last drop - not readily apparent by inspection from the boat, but it is easy to inspect from the bridge whilst doing your shuttle run before the trip.
