| Description |
English: The D-Day windows on the west wall at Christ Church, Portsdown On Sunday 4th June 1944 General Sir Miles Dempsaey organised an "Eve of Battle" service" here for the troops assembled for what we now call D-Day Normandy_Landings. In 1948 he returned to dedicate these two windows; and subsequently, an informative guide told me, on the Sunday nearest to this date every year until his death in 1969. |
