The drinking fountain originally stood outside Christ Church at the junction of Colmore Row and New Street. After the church was demolished in 1899, it was re-located here (on Temple Row, outside St Philip's Cathedral).
The fountain was restored in 1988 by the Planning Committee of the City Council, the Cathedral Close Community and Messrs Wragge and Company Solicitors.
