Summary

Description
English: Arms of Tenison: Gules, three leopard's faces or jessant de lys azure overall a bend engrailed argent (Burkes General Armory, 1884). As borne by Edward Tenison (1673–1735), Bishop of Ossory in Ireland and Prebendary of Canterbury Cathedral and by his cousin Thomas Tenison (1636-1715), Archbishop of Canterbury. These are a difference of the arms of Denys of Glamorgan and Gloucestershire, the surname Tenison signifying "son of Denis". No familial relationship is known to have existed between the two families. A further difference was borne by Tennyson, the family of Alfred, Lord Tennyson (Baron Tennyson), the poet.
