Summary

Description A highly automated, jumbo drill machine installs wire mesh support at Teck’s Pogo underground gold mine in central Alaska, USA. Advances in mining technology are enabling society to extract the resources we need for modern life (cars, computers…our entire infrastructure!) with fewer social and environmental risks. Cross-disciplinary research at the University of Exeter Camborne School of Mines is developing the future technologies to extract copper, platinum, industrial minerals and minor metals such as indium and cobalt.
