Description

Tambour à main Damaru (drum) Ce double tambour, en forme de sablier, est utilisé par les bouddhistes tantriques tibétains comme par les hindous. A l'origine, il est fabriqué avec deux demis crânes, une lanière est placée entre les deux hémisphères, deux petites masses, en bois, métal ou os, attachées aux extrémités d'une corde, viennent percuter alternativement les peaux. Il produit un son qui symbolise pour le tantrisme le son à l'origine du monde

Il est associé au trident dans le culte de Shiva Nataraja (danse cosmique) Il est utilisé avec la cloche (ghanta) et la conque (shanka) par les lamas tibétains
