Le quai Notre-Dame offre une succession de maisons de style Louis XIV construites entre 1680 et 1685, lors de la rectification des quai. Chacune se caractérise par une alternance entre la pierre (au niveau des encadrements des percements et des bandeaux) et la brique (pour les allèges, trumeaux et entablements) ainsi que par un aspect très géométrique. L’horizontalité est soulignée par des bandeaux qui courent sur toute la façade et prolongent les linteaux des baies. La verticalité est quant à elle accentuée sur toute la hauteur de la façade par les piédroits des fenêtres.

Onze Lieve vrouw kade biedt een opeenvolging van huizen gebouwd tussen 1680 en 1685, tijdens de rectificatie van de werven. In de Lodewijk XIV-stijl, gekenmerkt door een afwisseling tussen steen en baksteen (voor dorpels, overmantels en entablatures) en door hun geometrische aspect. De horizontaliteit wordt onderstreept door banden die langs de hele gevel lopen en de lateien van de ramen verlengen.
English: TOURNAI -—Façade, street side (modified at ground level) & roof of the building sis Notre-Dame wharf N°38. Quai Notre-Dame is largely made up of Louis XIV style houses built between 1680 and 1685, during the rectification of the quays. They are characterized by an alternation between stone (at the level of the frames of the openings and the bands) and brick (for the sills, overmantels and entablatures) as well as by their very geometric side. The horizontality is underlined by bands that run along the entire façade and extend the lintels of the windows. The verticality is accentuated over the entire height of the facade by the window pedestals.
