This camp, probably Lotus Camp at Edwards Beach, was one of several camps established in Mosman in the late 1800s as a semi-permanent retreat from urban living. The best known were the Artists'Camp, established by the cartoonist Livingston Hopkins ("Hop" of the Bulletin) at the northern end of Edwards Beach and Curlew Camp at Sirius Cove, home to the artists Arthur Streeton and Tom Roberts.
