Summary

Description
English: Calculated annual mean sea surface omega calcite for the present day (normalised to year 2002) from the Global Ocean Data Analysis Project v2 (GLODAPv2) climatology. Sources are given below. This property is the normalised saturation state of the calcium carbonate biomineral, calcite. Values of less than 1 indicate undersaturation and are favourable to dissolution, while values greater than 1 indicate oversaturation. It is plotted here using a Mollweide projection (using MATLAB v2013a). Note that the GLODAPv2 climatology is missing data in certain oceanic provinces including the Arctic Ocean, the Caribbean Sea and certain inland seas.
