Summary

Description

Around 1927, Blanche Russell's car broke down near here. She liked the area, bought the property and built this in the 1930's.

These "mushroom rocks" in the foreground are interesting. They tumble down, the earth erodes under them, they tumble down again and repeat the process over & over.

This is just north of the Navajo Bridge on US 89A. North of Flagstaff & Cameron, West of Page & Lee's Ferry. Near the Vermilion Cliffs and the Cliff Dwellers Lodge on the way to Jacob Lake and the intersection with SR 67 which goes to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. This route using House Rock Valley Road was part of a Mormon trail known as the Honeymoon Trail, since many Mormons traveled this route on the way to get married in the St. George Utah Temple until the Mesa Arizona Temple was completed in 1927.

Here's a slightly different angle & view.
