This image is in the public domain because under the Copyright law of the United States, originality of expression is necessary for copyright protection, and a mere photograph of an out-of-copyright two-dimensional work may not be protected under American copyright law. This comes from the back cover of a DVD I made about the Stone Arch Bridge. It was created by me with public domain photos (from the 1880s) that I obtained from the Minnesota Historical Society. The images need proper sources so that it can be verified that they indeed are from the 1880s. Also, if the DVD was published before 2003, and the images weren't published before they were published on the DVD backcover, then the images are unfree until the end of 2047, per Commons:COM:HIRTLE. --Stefan2 (talk) 14:03, 25 December 2013 (UTC)
