Summary

Description
English: In the mid-10th century BCE, the chief of the Meshwesh Shoshenq asked to pharaoh Psusennes II of the 21st Dynasty, the permission to sculpt a statue honoring the former's father, the chief of the Meshwesh Nimlot. The pharaoh questioned the oracle of Amun at Thebes, which spoke in favor of the request. Having obtained the permission, Shoshenq commemorated this event by raising this dedicatory stela in the temple of Osiris at Abydos. Later, Shoshenq managed to become Psusennes' successor as Hedjkheperre Shoshenq I, founding the 22nd Dynasty of Egypt.
