English:

From 1897 to 1898, Seattle was deluged by hopeful miners en route to the Klondike gold fields in Alaska. After gathering supplies, herd animals, tools and gear, prospectors boarded steamers for the long journey up to the Yukon.

Joseph Ladue, founder of Klondike City, had the Morgan City brought around Cape Horn from New York. After one trip from Seattle to Skagway, Alaska and Valdez, Alaska he leased it at US$600 per day as a troop transport to the Philippines. The ship was lost in the Sea of Japan in September 1899.
