Summary

Description
English: Warwick Railway Station during the visit from His Royal Highness, Edward, Prince of Wales, 1920

Warwick Railway Station during the visit of the His Royal Highness, Edward, Prince of Wales, on 26 July 1920 .

Prince Edward visited Warwick for about an hour, on Monday 26 July, 1920. He arrived at Warwick by train at 3pm, and was greeted by the Mayor, Alderman R. E. Gillam. A band played the National Anthem and the Prince was escorted through the main entrance of the railway station to where returned soldiers were drawn up in files. He passed here and there through the ranks, shook hands with one or two of the men and chatted for an instant before passing onto another. He then stepped into the waiting car and was driven down Grafton Street to the cheering of the people. The car took him to the Rotunda in Leslie Park where the Prince received a gift of painted views of Warwick. The Prince was then driven back to the railway station. The train moved off to the accompaniment of ringing cheers, with the Prince standing on the platform at the rear of the rail car.
