Summary

Description A Michigan National Guard U.S. color guard marches past a crowd in Riga, Latvia as part of the Latvia Day ceremonies marking the 96th year of the country's indepence November 18, 2014. Latvia and the Michigain Army National Guard have been partners for over 20 years as part of the U.S. European Command State Partnership Program. The parade also included soldiers from Company A, 2nd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division as well as other NATO partners. These activities are part of the U.S. Army Europe-led Operation Atlantic Resolve land force assurance training taking place across Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland to enhance multinational interoperability, strengthen relationships among allied militaries, contribute to regional stability and demonstrate U.S. commitment to NATO.
