Description
Azərbaycanca: Azərbaycan-Polşa diplomatik əlaqələri
English: Azerbaijan - Poland diplomatic relations. N 1057 - 60 qapik. There are pictured a portrait of Hasan Bayandur -"Uzun Hasan" (1453-1478) on the stamp. Uzun Hasan united Aq Qoyunlu dynasty and created Aq Qoyunlu empire in the territory of Azerbaijan (1468-1501) Both countries founded diplomatic relations by these rulers 540 years ago.
The picture shows Assambeg (EI: Ḥasan Pasha), not Uzun Hasan. The picture is taken from a work by Jean-Jacques Boissard (1528-1602). The Latin text on page 219 clearly identifies Assambegus as the most famous pirate of his time and commander of Suleiman I.
