Description

Cropped version of postcard of interior of St Lawrence, Pudsey, or Pudsey Parish Church, in Pudsey, West Yorkshire, England. Designed by Thomas Taylor, built 1821-1823. See File:St Lawrence Pudsey 003.jpg for full image.

Benjamin Payler (1841-1907) carved the pulpit (shown here) during the 1887-1888 restoration of the building. The basso-relievo figure at the centre front of the pulpit (shown here to the right) is St Lawrence. The panel in the centre of the image has the IHS monogram. The pulpit is carved in Caen stone, with niches separated by green serpentine columns.
