Français : Stèle funéraire du royaume néo-hittite de Gurgum.
Région de Maras (Turquie). 900-800 avant J.-C. Basalte. Jérusalem, prêté par le Bible Lands Museum, BLMJ 01060. Exposé au Musée du Louvre en 2019 pour l'exposition "Royaumes oubliés, de l'empire hittite aux Araméens". Légende dans l'exposition "Royaumes oubliés" : "La scène nous montre un couple assis face à face de part et d'autre d'une table couverte de pain. L'homme tient un bâton, comme certaines représentations royales (par exemple à Zincirli) ainsi qu'un épi de blé et une grappe de raisin symbolisant certainement la vie après la mort. La femme tient une coupe ainsi qu'un fuseau qui évoque probablement son statut de femme mariée. C'est aussi un symbole qui évoque le fil de l'existence. La composition générale, avec le couple banquetant autour d'une table chargée de victuailles, est un motif typique du monde syro-anatolien tant dans la glyptique que dans la sculpture monumentale, que l'on retrouve depuis la période du Bronze Moyen au IIe millénaire av. J.-C." |
