PREFf\G&. IHlS VOLUME has been very hastily prepared, andapproaches but approximately the conception of theauthor, who hopes in another edition to more nearly realize hisideal. The Album is its own excuse for its existence. The omission of any U. C. V. Officers, or of any Sponsorof a U. C. V. Camp, the editor begs to say is no fault of his, butmust be attributed to the tardiness or indifference of thosenot represented. For valuable assistance in compilation, I am largely in-debted to my friend and associate, Professor Robert F. Smith ofthe Texas Agricultural and Mechanical College ; and I desireto divide with him an\T measure of praise which may be accordedthe work. Mr. S. A.
