Summary

Description
English: Site of Morecambe's first railway station
The first railway to reach Morecambe was the 'Little' North Western (a named coined to avoid confusion with the mighty London & North Western Railway) in 1848. The terminus, a wooden hut, was located on the end of the wooden jetty. Five years later both were replaced by stone structures and, whilst the station was later replaced by the Midland Railway's splendid Promenade station, the original building survives today as a well maintained cafe.
