English: This image shows two different simple mechanisms of how an enhancer and a silencer affects the promoter region (gray box). In portion (A), the enhancer (green box) will activate the promoter region in order to initiate transcription. In (B), a silencer (red box) will "turn off" the promoter region, inhibiting transcription. |
