Bahasa Indonesia: Arti dan makna Lambang Daerah Kota Tegal berdasarkan Peraturan Daerah Kotamadya Daerah Tingkat II Tegal Nomor : 48/DPRD/Tk.II/PD/72

Perisai segi lima berarti satu persyaratan setia dan taat pada Pancasila dan Undang-undang Dasar 1945

Seuntai padi dan kapas yang erat dengan pita berwarna kuning sebagai lambang kemakmuran, kesejahteraan dan kebahagiaan yang merata ;

Jumlah padi 17 (tujuh belas) butir, kapas 8 (delapan) buah dan berdaun 4 (empat), serta lidah api berjumlah 5 (lima) adalah menunjukkan Proklamasi Kemerdekaan Republik Indonesia 17 Agustus 1945

Roda bergigi menunjukkan Daerah Industri dan Perdagangan yang cukup terkenal dan produktif

Perahu layar dengan layar berkembang menunjukkan jiwa kenelayanan yang teguh ;

Bintang bersudut 5 (lima) berwarna kuning berarti bahwa Tuhan mendapat tempat tertinggi dengan segala keagungan-Nya ;

Lidah api berwarna merah putih mencerminkan semangat pantang menyerah ;

Jalur berwarna kuning membentuk sinar cemerlang menunjukkan simpang lalu-lintas perekonomian yang mempunyai masa depan yang gemilang ;

Ombak berbuih putih menunjukkan daerah pantai ;

Tulisan KOTAMADYA (KOTA) TEGAL diatas bentuk pita sebagai tanda pengenal Pemerintah Kotamadya Daerah Tingkat II (Kota) Tegal.

Adapun arti warna dalam lambang adalah sebagai berikut :

Biru berarti setia dan taat

Kuning berarti kebesaran dan kemuliaan serta keagungan ;

Merah berarti berani, semangat, dan dinamis ;

Hijau berarti kemakmuran, keindahan, ramah tamah dan harapan ;

Hitam berarti tekun, abadi dan kuat ;

Putih berarti

suci, siap dipimpin dan memimpin.
