Description

Grab and Suction Dredger 'Shearwater' at Arbroath where it is under contract to Angus Council to dredge the harbour. 'Shearwater' was at Aberdeen by w:Hall, Russell & Company in 1968 for the Department of Agriculture & Fisheries for Scotland (DAFS - confusingly, a Scottish Office agency). The dredger was sold to Grampian Regional Council when they became responsible for most of the harbours and ports in their administrative area. Moray Council inherited the dredger when Grampian Regional Council was split into Aberdeenshire, Aberdeen City and Moray local authorities. The dredger was sold during 2012 by Moray Council to a newly formed company, Shearwater Dredging Limited who are currently undertaking dredging contracts around Britain.
