Summary

Description
English: 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐡𝐢 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐣𝐢𝐝, 𝐃𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐚 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐡 𝐌𝐮𝐡𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐡 𝐈𝐥𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐝𝐢 - 𝐁𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐝𝐮𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐣, 𝐀𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐝⁣

⁣ In the 16th Century, a man was born in Sadarpur village near Khairabad, Sitapur who rose to become the disciple and successor of great sufi saint, 𝐅𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐮𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐧 𝐆𝐚𝐧𝐣-𝐞-𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐤𝐚𝐫. He was commanded to move to Allahabad by some divine intervention. ⁣ ⁣ This great man settled in the vicinity of Allahabad in what is now known as Bahadurganj and became popular as 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐡 𝐌𝐮𝐡𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐡 𝐈𝐥𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐝𝐢. He established his Khanqah and became a very renowned propagator of Sufism in the region. He was initiated in the branch of 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐭𝐢𝐲𝐚 𝐒𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐲𝐚 𝐒𝐢𝐥𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐚 of Sufism. ⁣ ⁣ Shah Muhibullah believed in the philosophy of 𝗪𝐚𝐡𝐝𝐚𝐭 𝐮𝐥 𝗪𝐮𝐣𝐨𝐨𝐝 or the Unity of God. Being a popular sufi saint at the time of Shah Jahan's reign, Shah Muhibullah also became the preceptor of crown prince 𝐃𝐚𝐫𝐚 𝐒𝐡𝐢𝐤𝐨𝐡. Because of his spiritual philosophy which didn't fall in line with Orthodox Islam, 𝐀𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐳𝐞𝐛 𝐀𝐥𝐚𝐦𝐠𝐢𝐫 was dead against him and under his regime, issued a 𝐅𝐚𝐭𝐰𝐚-𝐞-𝐪𝐮𝐟𝐫 (or issue of infidelity) against Shah Muhibullah. By the time, Mughal forces were sent to arrest this great sufi saint, Shah Muhibullah passed away while sleeping, to meet his divine Creator.⁣ ⁣ Shah Muhibullah was the founder of Indo-islamic sufi tradition in Allahabad. His daira was the seat of great literary works. In fact, there was a time when his literary works gained huge popularity and acceptance in Persia. ⁣ ⁣

After his death, on 30th July, 1648, Dara Shikoh commissioned the construction of a grand mosque in his Daira which came to be known as 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐡𝐢 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐣𝐢𝐝. The structure is made in elaborate mughal style with huge dome and ornated facade. The interior of the mosque has kept the natural colours of its frescoes intact to this day. ⁣It is the oldest Mughal Mosque in Allahabad.
