The entire screenshot: because the image is taken from the game, the entire image is needed to identify the product, properly convey the meaning and branding intended, and avoid tarnishing or misrepresenting the image. |

The copy is of sufficient resolution for commentary and identification but lower resolution than the original screenshot. Copies made from it will be of inferior quality, unsuitable as artwork on pirate versions or other uses that would compete with the commercial purpose of the original artwork. |

Other. The image is used for identification in the context of critical commentary of the work for which it serves as screenshot. It makes a significant contribution to the user's understanding of the article, which could not practically be conveyed by words alone. It is used to show several of the game's features as discussed in the article, such as how the game's controls and HUD have been ported to a touchscreen device; the mail icon on the top left is for notifications, the building icon on the bottom left brings up the building menu (which is further subdivided into different menus for different types of building), the greyed out image on the bottom right is to select any speciality settlers, and the star icon on the top right is to display the minimap. The image highlights these gameplay aspects in a way the article text itself could not describe as intricately, and thus enhances the reader's understanding of the prose. Use for this purpose does not compete with the purposes of the original artwork, namely the creator providing graphic design services to relevant concerns and video game marketing to the public. |
