Additional rationale[edit]

• The sample captures one of the many musical styles explored in the album 21, illustrating that the song "Set Fire to the Rain" differs from a number of tracks on the album: it is the most pop-influenced, and described by critics as a power ballad, which contrasts with Adele's more soulful, bluesier, R&B leanings.
• The song's lush production and dense instrumentation (described in the article as a wall of sound) contrasts with the stripped down nature of the other songs on the album. The sample portrays this aural quality, which is commented on in the article, and as such, is extremely useful in its depiction of the albums stylistic variance.
• The sample captures the last section of the song, and is only 23s in length, at 76kbit/s. The 76 kbit/s is well below the quality of the original recording, but slightly above the average rate suggested by Wikipedia:Manual of Style (music samples).
